Steve Perry releases new song which is a duet with late father

Steve Perry

The former Journey vocalist Steve Perry released a new song called “Call Me Irresponsible” which is a duet with his late father Ray Perry. The track is already available on streaming platforms and will be part of the new expanded edition of “The Season”, the Christmas album he released a few years ago.

He talked about the song, saying: “My father, Ray Perry, was a singer and when I was a child he would sing to me at bedtime. I recently found a karaoke cassette of my dad singing that he sent me back in 1993 for Christmas. The one song that touched me the most was, ‘Call Me Irresponsible’. His voice was lovely.”

Lyrics

“Call me, Irresponsible, Call me unreliable
Through in, undependable too
Do my, Do my foolish alibis, bore you
Well I’m not too clever, I just adore you

Call me, Call me, unpredictable
Tell me, Tell me, I’m impractical
Rainbows I’m inclined pursue

Call me, Call Me irresponsible
Yes I’m, Yes I’m unreliable
But it’s, undeniably true,
I’m irresponsibly mad, for you…
{solo}

Call me, Call me irresponsible
Yes I’m, unreliable,
but it’s, undeniably true

I’m irresponsibly mad,
for you…”

Steve Perry was born in Hanford, California in 1949 and started his career in music in 1970. He first achieved fame as a member of Journey, band he joined in 1977, four years after the band’s foundation and after they had already four albums released.

“Infinity”, the first album he did with the band, released in 1978 changed completely not only his life but also the future of the band. In following years they released some of their best-selling albums and became one of the biggest bands in the world. They stayed together until 1987 when the band entered a hiatus, returning in 1995. However, after three years Steve Perry decided to leave the band for good.
