“Metallica was more of a thrash band back then. Everybody was, really. Megadeth was thrashier. And obviously, Metallica went on a much more poppy trail than we did. They came back around.”

“They’ve had a couple pretty killer records — the last couple,” King said. “And I get confused which one’s called what, but the one with ‘Spit Out the Bone’… I love ‘Spit Out the Bone,’ killer fucking song,” Kerry King said.

That song was released by Metallica on their 2016 album “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct”, their first one since “Death Magnetic” (2008). Besides “Spit Out The Bone”, that album had other praised songs like the title-track, “Atlas, Rise!”  and “Moth into Flame”..

During the same conversation, King said that Slayer was the band that kept being Heavier: “But as we matured and went our separate paths, we pretty much stayed the thrashiest of the Big Four, I would say, by any means. That didn’t make us better or anything. We’re just different.”
