Slash reveals which are some of his favorite film composers
“Well, John Carpenter is great. I love Danny Elfman (Oingo Bongo leader), he’s a genius. Hans Zimmer can be great too. John Williams and all these guys are super brilliant, but then there are some smaller names that maybe people only know for one movie. I mean people like ”
“Hildur Guðnadóttir who did ‘Joker’ – that was an amazing fucking score. I also think (Radiohead guitarist) Johnny Greenwood is a great fucking composer. ‘There Will Be Blood’ was one of the best scores of the last 20 years,” Slash said.
In the same interview, the guitarist recalled that his love for horror movies begun when he was still a kid living in England. He lived in Stoke-On-Trent until the age of five and then moved to the United States.
According to Slash, there were only two TV stations and they only played at certain times during the day. Often the famous Hammer horror movies would be broadcasted, so he was introduced to those stories that had famous actors like Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Charles Laughton.
He also recalled that his parents also loved horror stories and used to read a lot of scary books written by famous authors like H.P Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and Ray Bradbury.
