Ozzy Osbourne sadly passed away last July 22 at the age of seventy six, only a few weeks after saying goodbye to his fans during the Back to the Beginning festival in Birmingham, his hometown. That day he played his final show with his band and with Black Sabbath’s original line up. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ozzy’s widow and manager Sharon Osbourne, seventy three, revealed that in his final days her late husband told her he was having the same dream every night, in which a line of people stood beside his bed looking at him. She also said that he passed away after waking up and working out.

“I said, ‘Well, what kind of people? He goes, ‘All different people. And I just keep walking and walking, and I’m seeing all these different people every night, and I go back there, and I’m looking at these people, and they’re looking at me, and nobody’s talking.’ And he knew. He was ready.”
“He was up and down to the bathroom all night, and it was like 4:30, and he said, ‘Wake up’. I said, ‘I’m already bloody awake, you’ve woken me up.’ And he said, ‘Kiss me’. And then he said, ‘Hug me tight.’ I can’t help wondering if I should have, could I have? If only I’d have told him I loved him more. If only I’d have held him tighter. And he went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away,” Sharon Osbourne said (Transcribed by Metal Hammer).
The “Back to the Beginning” festival happened on July 5, 2025, at the Villa Park in Birmingham, Sabbath’s hometown. During that festival, many bands like Metallica, Slayer, Guns N’ Roses and supergroups formed by former members of Ozzy’s solo years, paid tribute to him and Sabbath playing some of their famous tracks.
