Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” anthem has had covers of all kinds since its release in 1975. The last one is starring a variety of old computer hardware – drivers, printers, modems and more. All programmed to generate music through the sound of their mechanical movements.
The “computer geek, electronics enthusiast and software engineer,” Pawel Zdrozniak created the Floppotron to play music. The cover of Queen is 98th release.
“The story began in 2011 when I created the first video of two floppy disk drives playing the ‘Imperial March’ of Star Wars,” wrote Zadrozniak on social networks. “It was a simple and fun electronic project that cost me a few hours to do and schedule. The video became viral with more than 5 million views. I decided to go further and create bigger machines. That’s how the Floppotron was born. “
