The legendary Beatles co-founder, songwriter, bassist and singer Paul McCartney revealed that a final Beatles track will be released in 2023 and was completed with the help of artificial intelligence that helped to improve John Lennon‘s voice from an old demo tape.

The musician talked about the recording in an interview with BBC 4 while promoting his latest photo book “1964: Eyes of the Storm”.

“We just finished it up, it will be released this year. When we came to make what will be the last Beatles record, it was a demo that John had that we worked on.”

“We were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI so that then we could mix the record as you would normally do — it gives you some sort of leeway. So there’s a good side to it and then a scary side and we’ll just have to see where that leads,” Paul McCartney said.

According to Paul, it was the movie director Peter Jackson, responsible for the documentary series “Get Back” that helped to make the recording work. “He was able to extricate John’s voice from a ropey little bit of cassette — it had John’s voice and a piano. He could separate them with AI, they could tell the machine, ‘That’s a voice, this is a guitar, lose the guitar,’ and he did that. So it has great uses,” Paul McCartney said.

The musician also said that it was Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono who gave him the tape to be used. John Lennon was murdered back in December 8, 1980 at the age of 40, there is still no release date for the new track. The Beatles are the best-selling band of all time, with an estimated amount of more than 600 million records sold worldwide.
