The legendary Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne has been dealing with health issues since 2018 and recently had a new spine surgery and according to him everything went ok and he is already feeling better, with no pain, but the singer revealed he still can’t walk properly but is getting in shape. Osbourne also said he still want to record a new album and he will start working on that in early 2024. The idea is to release the album and then tour again.
In the same interview with Metal Hammer, he praised Rob Halford and Judas Priest, who will replace him at the upcoming festival Power Trip that will happen in Indio, California, with groups like Metallica, Tool, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden.
Ozzy Osbourne gives health update and reveals he will record new album
“I’ve had all the surgery now, thank god,” he says. “I’m feeling okay – it was just dragging on. I thought I’d be back on my feet months ago, I just couldn’t get used to this mode of living, constantly having something wrong. I can’t walk properly yet, but I’m not in any pain any more and the surgery on my spine went great.”
“I’ve done two albums fairly recently [2020’s Ordinary Man and 2022’s Patient Number 9, both produced by Andrew Watt], but I want to do one more album and then go back on the road. I’m just starting to work on it now, and we’ll be recording in the early part of next year,” he says. “I want to take my time with this one!” Ozzy Osbourne said.
The musician was also questioned about missing the premiere of Black Sabbath’s ballet in England, which had the performance of the band’s guitarist Tony Iommi and presence of his wife Sharon Osbourne, besides other special guests like Robert Plant and Bev Bevan. “I’d have given my eyeteeth to go and watch it with her in Birmingham,” he says. “It’s just too early though, so I can’t travel,” he said.
About missing the Power Trip festival and being replaced by Judas Priest, the Sabbath singer said: “It’s brilliant; Rob [Halford]’s a great singer and they’re a very good band,” he says. “He’s been a very dear friend of mine and he’s one of the greatest rock singers of all-time.” But he said he doesn’t go there to watch the shows: “If I can’t do the gig, I don’t really want to be there. Plus I know they’ll just be like ‘go on, get Ozzy up’!” Ozzy Osbourne said.
