Muse may have been on the road for 24 years, with seven studio albums released and a long list of festivals on the curriculum. But the role of rock star does not replace the passion of fan. In an interview with Wikimetal, bassist Chris Wolstenholme spoke about the recent experience playing live with Brian Johnson, legendary AC / DC vocalist, away from the band due to hearing problems.
Read what he said:
“I think that was the highlight of the tour. Everyone knows Brian, everyone knows ‘Back in Black’. It was an honor, “he said of the August 2017 performance at the Reading and Leeds Festival. The occasion marked the first time in 18 months that Johnson sang an AC / DC song live. “Even in complicated conditions, he gave himself up completely.”

In addition to being the year the band managed to play with Johnson, 2017 also marked Muse’s musical return. “Dig Down” was the first British release since the concept album Drones, 2015.
More than a single, the song defined a revolution in the musical production group. The focus was no longer on the records, and went to the tracks, a change considered positive by the bassist. “We got to experiment in the studio. We have expanded our musical barriers and invested energy in each track, which sometimes does not happen in the production of a record. ”
On February 15, Muse released “Thought Contagion”, which despite not being attached to the concept of an LP, follows the technological and nostalgic aesthetic of “Dig Down”. Both clips involve TVs, video games and the highest temporal setting in the years 2010: the 1980s.
“The 1980s serve as inspiration for all the classic elements. And also because it was when we grew up, “said Wolstenholme. And the theme will continue to dominate the next releases. In an interview with Beats 1, vocalist Matt Bellamy said the next single, “Algorithm,” is a “classic piano mix with 1980s synthesizers and computer game music.”
Now, wait to see what Bellamy, Wolstenholme and drummer Dom Holward have drawn from this new musical experience. Listen to the latest singles, “Dig Down” and “Thought Contagion”, below.
