Metallica announced a new album called “72 Seasons” that will be out next April 14 and they already released the first single “Lux Æterna” with an official video. It’s their first studio record since “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct” (2016).
To promote their latest work they also announced a world tour for 2023 and 2024 across North America and Europe with some special guests like Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch and Greta Van Fleet.
The Metallica vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield explained in an official statement the meaning of the album’s title, saying: “Is there a special meaning to the title? 72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents.”
“A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry,” James Hetfield said.

The new record will have 12 tracks and will have about 77 minutes of music. It was produced by Greg Fidelman alongside James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.
