In a statement for the fans, Ian Hill explained that advanced arthritis in his left shoulder, right hand and knees are the main reason why he had to decide to stop. He had already missed the band’s show in London last month, being replaced by Uriah Heep’s Dave Rimmer, who now was announced as his replacement in the band.
Now, vocalist Rob Halford is the only classic member of the band in the lineup, since K.K. Downing was not accepted back after changing his mind about retiring and Glenn Tipton has been absent from the band’s live performances for a few years due to Parkinson’s disease . Their most recent album is “Invincible Shield”, released in 2024.
