Journey cancels tour dates amid lawsuit between Cain and Neal

Journey is currently managed by the original guitarist Neal Schon and the classic keyboardist Jonathan Cain, who are the only two classic members of the band who are part of the current line-up. During the past few years their relationship wasn’t the best, not only because of their different political views but also due to a lawsuit filed by Cain back in 2022 involving a band credit card.

He accused Schon of maxing out an American Express account with a 1 million dollars limit, saying that the guitarist has spent up to 10.000 dollars per night. Even with that lawsuit they continued to tour together and it seemed like the tension between them was over. However, Schon has filed a new lawsuit, once again charging him with overspending. The new court case accuses Schon of maxing out an American Express account with a 1 million dollars limit. It also says the guitarist exceeded a daily hotel fee cap of 1.500 dollars, saying he spent up to 10.000 dollars per night.

The lawsuit also says that debt payments were blocked and that the band didn’t have enough money to pay the crew and production company during the current Stadium tour.

Cain’s lawyers said that these “unforeseen strains on cash flow pose a severe threat of harm to the company and to Journey’s storied history of musical greatness.”

They stated that the band is suffering through divided loyalties, crew defections and general tension. So the band announced that their upcoming United Kingdom and Ireland tour dates are canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances”. But their shows in the United States and Japan are still confirmed.
