Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne passed away in 2026 at the age of 76 and since then a huge amount of tributes to him were made and as his family had revealed a biographical movie is being made. His son Jack Osbourne gave more details about the movie in an interview with E! News. It is set to be released in 2028 or a bit later.
Jack Osbourne gives details of Ozzy’s upcoming biopic
“I kind of have this mantra, and I always kind of say it, when in meetings with my mom or doing anything in the family business, it’s, like, ‘Give the fans what they want.’ That’s our people. That’s who we’re catering to. That’s what my dad wrote music — that’s who he wrote music for. That’s what he toured for.”
“It’s why we did the shows we did. It’s been a big theme. ‘Cause we’re doing the Ozzy movie with Sony, and I’m always saying in the meetings, ‘All right, we gotta give the fans what they want. We can’t make this artsy kind of esoteric biopic.’ No. We’re not doing that — for many reasons, but it’s not what the fans want. (The) script (is) done. We’re currently going out to directors. And, yeah, it’s gung-ho. (…) We do (know who might be the actor). We do. I’m not allowed to say. But conversations have been had, and if it all works out, it’s gonna be awesome,” he said (Transcribed by Blabbermouth).
During the same interview he also discussed the upcoming A.I. version of Ozzy that the family also announced recently. “Admittedly, I think I spoke kind of out of turn in the sense of really kind of explaining why we’re doing it. Everything is gonna have an A.I. fingerprint on it at some point. Ultimately, it’s about preserving the digital fingerprint of my father. That’s the core essence of it. Yes, it can be utilized for other things, but ultimately it’s about getting ahead of what is the inevitability,” he said.
In this matter they are working with Hyperreal, which previously created a life-sized version of the late comic book legend Stan Lee and people could pay 15 dollars at the Los Angeles Comic Con to speak to his holographic version. The same company developed similar avatars of Paul McCartney, Mike Tyson and Notorious B.I.G.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, just a few weeks after playing his final solo show and also his last concert with Bill Ward, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler as Black Sabbath at the Back at the Beginning festival in their hometown of Birmingham.
