The Darkness released today the new single “Heart Explodes” from their anticipated album Easter Is Canceled, available October 4 via Cooking Vinyl. “Heart Explodes” is a grand mini rock opera, in which The Darkness finds the multi facets of heartache related to hardness, hardship, and changes in relationships throughout life.

Band leader Justin Hawkins explains:
“It’s about the desperation of change. Having to reevaluate your life and what you are leaning on. It’s like this feeling when you just want to swim and move on. Wanting to be surrounded by something that will gradually bring you down. If you really want to survive this process, you can. We have all been there – people who say they are not lying.”
Guitarist Dan Hawkins adds:
“The difference between The Darkness’ sadness and the sadness of other bands is that we don’t let ourselves suck for it. Even though it’s sad, there’s still a way to play with it.”
Heart Explodes and its predecessor Rock And Roll Deserves To Die are glorious examples of what we can expect from Easter Is Canceled, the boldest and most diverse band work to date.
