More sad news for the world of Heavy Metal. Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton has announced that his condition (he has been diagnosed with the disease for ten years) has worsened and although he may still play some songs, he should no longer go on tour with British Heavy Metal icons.
His replacement will be Andy Sneap, producer of the band and guitarist of Hell.
Despite his current condition, Tipton continued to work on “Firepower,” the band’s new album, which will be released this year. He also does not consider that he has left the band, but he just does not feel able to go on tour, not ruling out the possibility of playing a show.
The band issued the following statement: “We have been privileged to witness Glenn’s determination and commitment over the years, showing his passion and self-assertion through composing, recording and performing with Priest
We were not surprised by Glenn’s insistence that we continue the ‘Firepower’ tour and thanked Andy for joining us and making Glenn’s wish come true.
As Glenn said, we also can not wait to have him with us anytime anywhere on the road. We love you, Glenn! ”
