Gene Simmons plays two Kiss songs written by Ace Frehley for the first time

Gene Simmons playing Ace Frehley songs

During his solo show at the L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, LA, on February 20, Gene Simmons performed for the first time the Kiss songs  “Strange Ways” (From ‘Hotter Than Hell’) and “Rocket Ride” (Single – Co-written by Sean Delaney), written and sung by Ace Frehley. Also part of the setlist were “Cold Gin” and “Parasite”, which, although originally sung by Simmons, were written by the guitarist.

Simmons, who criticized Ace Frehley and Peter Criss over the past decades, provoked outrage among fans last year after suggesting that bad decisions had led to his death, although he sadly passed away a few days after a fall at his studio.

He is currently the only original member of Kiss who is touring, as Paul Stanley has not performed live since the band came to an end in 2023, and Peter Criss has not toured in decades, although he recently released a new solo studio album.

One of the most influential Rock bands of all time, Kiss was formed in New York City in 1973 by Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss and Paul Stanley. During their 50 year career, only Simmons and Stanley remained in the band the entire time, and they have sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide.
