At the age of 87, the original Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman announced that he will release his ninth solo studio album, which is called “Drive My Car”. This is his first album in nine years, since the most recent one “Back to Basics” was released back in 2015.
“Drive My Car” will be released next August 9 and has 10 tracks. Five songs were written or co-written by Wyman and the others are covers, which includes Bob Dylan and John Prine’s songs. Wyman’s band for the album had the drummer Paul Beavis and the guitarist Terry Taylor. Other names
The title-track was already released and can be heard below. “It’s not something I do every day, but sometimes I just see a guitar in the corner of the room, pick it up to play around and then something clicks into place. (…)
“I think the biggest influence on the album as a whole is J.J. Cale, his laidback groove has always appealed to me. Friends I’ve played it to have said things like, ‘It really sounds like you,’ and that makes me happy. I’ve never tried to be anyone else – I’m Bill, basically,” Bill Wyman said about the new album.
