Elton John released an official video for the beautiful song “Finish Line” that was on the musician’s 2021 album “Lockdown Sessions” and features the legendary Stevie Wonder.

The video shows old images of the two muscians that are friends for decades and many different footages of people’s life like birth, childhood, graduations, birthdays and especially the health workers and society during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Elton John also talked about the recording of the album last year in a official statement, saying: “The last thing I expected to do during lockdown was make an album. But, as the pandemic went on, one‐off projects kept cropping up and I’ve ended with a selection of really interesting and diverse stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for. Stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory.”

“And I realised there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.”

The album also featured names like Eddie Vedder, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Lil Nas X, Nick Minaj, Charlie Puth and Stevie Nicks.

“Finish Line” Lyrics

You, oh you
Are still a beauty to behold
You’ve been my muse
Every story that I’ve told
Oh, take me back some years
To when we were young without a fear
All along you have been the song that I want to hear

I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line

Forgive me for the ways I’ve let you down
Won’t you give me another chance to make you proud
Oh, flash forward twenty years
Forever keep me young and my conscience clear
All along you have been the song that I wanna hear, oh yeah

I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry (Where the angles cry)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line

(Yeah, yeah) Yes, I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry (Angels cry)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line (At the finish line)

Oh, I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom watching life go by (Watching life go by)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line (Finish line)

I’ve been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry (Down to the bottom)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing (Oh for nothing)
Until I saw you at the finish line (Saw you at the finish line)
