Pearl Jam was formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990 and since then they became one of the most successful bands of all time. They will release next April 19 their twelfth studio album “Dark Matter”, which will be another chapter of their extremely successful career, with an estimated amount of more than 85 million records sold.

In an interview with Mojo, the vocalist Eddie Vedder talked about friends they lost on the way and said that Pearl Jam might have one or two good albums left.

Eddie Vedder says Pearl Jam might have only one or two albums left

“The older you get the better you are at living in the present. The understanding you have less time is the biggest number in the quotient. The goal is to keep making music.”

He continued reflecting on friends they lost along the way, like Chris Cornell, Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain. “(At this stage) you lean on the relationships with the people who are still around. It really hits you when you are in a situation where that person would be there. And you’re sad for them that they’re not.”

“But it makes you realize you gotta be healthy. You want to be around for your kids. You want to make good records,” he continued. “And we might have one or two left,” Eddie Vedder said.

The band’s line-up is the same since 1998, when the Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron joined them. Besides him the group is formed by Eddie Vedder (Vocals – Since 1990), Jeff Ament (Bass – Since 1990), Stone Gossard (Guitar – Since 1993) and Mike McCready (Guitar – Since 1990). On tour they are accompanied by Boom Gaspar (Keyboards – Since 2002) and Josh Klinghoffer (Guitar, keyboards, drums and more – Since 2021).

Their new albums was produced by Andrew Watt, who had worked with many famous groups in the last years like Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and The Rolling Stones.
