The band that pays tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio, Dio Disciples, and is supported by the singer’s widow, Wendy Dio, is about to sign a contract with BMG to release their first album.
The band consists of musicians who played with Dio, and vocalists Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, who was part of Judas Priest, and Oni Logan of Lynch Mob, as well as Dio’s hologram. Some of the recent shows also included Joe Retta.
Announced as a “celebration of the music and legacy of the world’s greatest singer,” Dio Disciples has been touring playing the greatest Dio classics.
Years ago, guitarist Craig Goldy said the band planned to start working on songwriting, but only this year the album was confirmed by Dio’s widow “We’re about to sign a contract with BMG for them to start making a new album “. Confirming that the debut album would include “All New Material,” Wendy said the band members have written about five songs and were “very enthusiastic” about the opportunity.
The Dio Disciples album has yet to be released.
