Does Diamond Head ever get tired of playing “Am I Evil” Read what the frontman said

Diamond Head’s guitarist mastermind Brian Tatler was on the Tinnitus show  and they asked him if the band ever gets tired of playing their biggest hit “Am I Evil”.

Read what he said:

“No. Because I know what kind of reaction it’s gonna get and I know people love it. It’s like asking Tony Iommi if he gets bored of playing ‘Paranoid.'”

“It has such a big riff – it always went down well. I think there was times when we thought we’ve got better songs, but I think the audience, ultimately, is king, isn’t it? And they decide which songs they like best.

“And then, of course, once Metallica covered it and got bigger and bigger and they started selling millions of records, it grew into this mythical world-conquering song. And I’m really happy to have it and I’m very proud of it. And it just seems to have a life of its own.”

Diamond Head

Diamond Head was formed in 1976 in the town of Stourbridge, England. It was one of the first bands of New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), strongly influencing bands like Metallica and Megadeth.

The band recorded demo cassettes between 1977 and 1979 and gained a lot of attention on the tour with AC / DC and Iron Maiden. Their first album, Lightning to the Nations, was recorded in 1980 on Happy Face Records and his success later garnered a contract with MCA Records in 1981, leaving two more albums, Borrowed Time and Canterbury, recorded in 1982 and 1983.
