Eddie Van Halen’s health has been questioned a few months ago after a photo that shows him with a motorcycle was posted online. Now, in an interview with the Phoenix radio station KSLX to promote his upcoming Las Vegas residency, the guitarists ex-bandmate David Lee Roth, talked about the matter.
He said:
“I’m the face of Van Halen from this point on, most likely. I’m not sure what’s happening with Ed, but he’s probably not gonna answer the bell this time. And it’s not my place to guess. But we’ve been in touch. The fellows who I’m working with in terms of my road crew and the amps come from Van Halen.”
When asked about the guitarist health rumours, he said:
“I hear all the same rumors that you do and it’s not my place to guess.”
The guitarist was treated for tongue cancer in 2000, resulting in surgery which removed a third of his tongue. He was declared cancer-free in 2002.

Eddie Trunk said in an episode of his radio show on SiriusXM that a Van Halen reunion tour featuring David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony and the brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen was scheduled to take place this year of 2019, but ended up being canceled due to a member disease.
Trunk said:
“I did hear that there was a tour and shows being talked about for this year. However, they were put off until next year and I heard some rumors about why, which I’m not gonna say on the air because I certainly hope they’re not true. It had to do with illness and I just don’t know what’s real and what’s not.”
“You never do know in that camp because they are so stingy with information, but most importantly you hope everybody is healthy, well and at one point Van Halen will indeed do something.”
“Yet, there was talk and there was certainly something to the talk by every indication that I’ve been able to find out about them going out and doing shows this Summer. That’s all been put off at least until sometime next year from what my sources are telling me.”
Also a photo of Eddie was released and raised rumours about his health.
