David Bowie wins tribute with Peter Frampton, Garbage and Billy Corgan

David Bowie 80s

Two years after the death of David Bowie, musicians such as Billy Corgan, Peter Frampton and Daryl Hall, and bands like Garbage will play the artist’s songs on a special edition of Howard Stern’s show, the American radio broadcaster said on Tuesday.

The program will be broadcast on Friday (9) by the US station SiriusXM and will have 25 songs. He will be co-directed by Bowie’s producer Tony Visconti.

“I want to make sure people remember Bowie,” said Stern, one of the most successful radio broadcasters in the United States. The announcer said the singer was one of his first musical idols.

Corgan, lead singer of Smashing Pumpkins, will play “Space Oddity” (1969), while electronic rock band Garbage will play “Starman” and Peter Frampton, Bowie’s contemporary, will sing “Rebel Rebel.”

Daryl Hall, from the duet Hall and Oates, will play “Fame,” an iconic song from Bowie’s funk passage in the 1970s.

Bowie died in January 2016, a cancer victim. His family did not allow any public tribute, but several charity presentations – organized months before Bowie’s death – in New York became tributes to the artist, with the participation of bands like Blondie, Pixies and The Flaming Lips.
