In a Twitter posting, Dave Mustaine answered to a fan who asked him what his success measure was when he founded Megadeth after being fired from Metallica in 1983, and the vision he had of the role of his then-new band.
Take a look:
In an interview with Lydverket reporter Kristin Winsents in 2009, Dave Mustaine revealed the reasons for his dismissal from Metallica.
Read what he said:
Mustaine: “I was really hurt by the way it happened I said, what ?! No second chance, no warning? Come on, we all drink. out.’ And I was like, ‘That’s right.’ ”
About the fight with the frontman of Metallica, James Hetfield, that took Mustaine to be dismissed of the band:
Mustaine: “He kicked my dog.
I was selling marijuana. When I was playing a show, people knew that my marijuana was standing in my apartment, just saying ‘go ahead and keep me company’. Then I was invaded.
People stole everything I had; all my stock. And I conclude, fuck that. I’ll get some dogs to stay in the apartment when I leave. So I got two dogs and I took one of them to a rehearsal one time and he put his paws in Ron’s car [McGovney, then the bassist of Metallica].
And James kicked him right off. And I was like, ‘Why did you do it? It’s a dog, that’s what they do. You do not kick animals. ‘ Then we went into the house, and we began to argue a bit more. And I ended up punching him in the face and I think that was the source of why I lost my job.
I hated it. I did not want to hit him. I cared a lot about James; I really liked him. I still like him. I do not like Lars [Ulrich, Metallica’s drummer], but I like James. ”
