Iron Maiden released their fist album more than 40 years ago, are one of the best-selling Metal bands of all time and has been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for years already. However, they still weren’t inducted into the Hall and only a few Heavy Metal groups were able to be nominated even after more than 30 years the ceremony exists.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Maiden’s vocalist Bruce Dickinson talked about the RRHF.
Bruce Dickinson talks about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
“I don’t want to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Because we’re not dead yet! Some people feel almost actively threatened by metal. Not by the nature of the music. But by the fact that it doesn’t conform to their worldview of what pop music should be, which is: pop music is disposable, darling. Well, we don’t make disposable pop music.”
“We don’t give a monkey’s. Because the people that get us are not the people that run the music business establishment, whatever that is. Because that is largely run by people that can’t make a living doing anything else,” Bruce Dickinson said.
The band
Iron Maiden was formed by the band’s bassist and main songwriter Steve Harris in 1975. Since 1980 they have released 17 studio albums and became one of the most influential Heavy Metal of all time. They have sold an estimated amount of more than 120 million records worldwide over the past 40 years. Some of their most famous ones are “The Number of The Beast” (1982), “Piece of Mind” (1983) and “Powerslave” (1984).
Their most recent one is “Senjutsu” released in 2021 and they continue to promote the record with a world tour that this year will be across Europe and in the United States.
