In 2014 AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young was forced to retire from the band after revealing he was suffering from dementia. But the legendary rocker kept and will always keep bringing joy to fans around the world, including those battling the same disease as he did.
Back in 20156 the Brazilian radio station 98FM decided to pay a touching tribute to Malcolm by playing AC/DC tracks to dementia sufferers, and filming their reactions.
Take a look:
When a set of headphones playing music was placed over their ears, the elderly listeners smiled and began tapping their feet or nodding their heads.
Dementia is a broad category of brain diseases that cause a long-term and often gradual decrease in the ability to think and remember that is great enough to affect a person’s daily functioning.
Other common symptoms include emotional problems, problems with language, and a decrease in motivation. A person’s consciousness is usually not affected. A dementia diagnosis requires a change from a person’s usual mental functioning and a greater decline than one would expect due to aging. These diseases also have a significant effect on a person’s caregivers.
Your music will always be played by us, Malcolm. Rest in Peace and thank you for giving us more strength everyday!
