Back in 2005, Billy Idol along with Steve Stevens performed a nice cover of Van Halen’s “Jump” at the Rock Am Ring.
Take a look:
“Jump” is the title of a song recorded by American rock band Van Halen. Released in 1984, as the second track of the 1984 album, it was the group’s only single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song broke the mold of the band’s previous songs, mainly by the main melody, played on a synthesizer by Eddie Van Halen himself, although it still contains Eddie’s traditional guitar solo, which he declared to be one of your favorites.
The music video for the song was directed by David Lee Roth.
“Jump” is perhaps the most popular and instantly recognizable song, perhaps because its music incorporates the main aspects of the two genres of pop music most associated with the 1980s music scene in the United States: pop and its synthesizers, and metal style -“Stadium”.
Its introduction is one of the most recognizable parts of popular music in rock, and the song eventually changed the future and style of the band, from predominantly hard rock to a more popular music style oriented to radio stations.
