Zak Starkey, who is Ringo Starr's son, had been The Who's drummer for the past 29 years. A few weeks ago, news broke that he had been fired from the band after a performance that Roger Daltrey was not pleased with. A few days later, Pete Townshend announced that it was a misunderstanding and welcomed him back. However, the band's main songwriter and guitarist has now officially confirmed that Starkey is indeed leaving the band. "After many years of great work on drums, from Zak the time has come for a change. A poignant time. Zak has lots of new projects in hand and I wish him the best. Scott Devours who has worked with Roger's solo band will join The Who for our final shows. Please welcome him". Why Zak Starkey was fired? As The Mirror reported a few weeks ago, Roger Daltrey complained about the drummer overplaying during one of their shows at the Royal Albert Hall. “To sing that song I do need to hear the key, and I can’t. All I’ve got is drums going boom, boom, boom. I can’t sing to that. I’m sorry, guys,” The Who’s vocalist told the crowd. Last January, Zak Starkey suffered a blood clot in his leg. Since Starkey's dismissal, fans have been asking him to join Oasis on their reunion tour, as the musician played with the Gallagher brothers from 2004 to 2008. He appeared on the albums Don’t Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). The funny thing is that when Townshend announced a few weeks ago that Starkey had actually not been fired, he said he owed the new drummer, Scott Devours, an apology for not "crushing that rumor" that Scott would be the band's new drummer. But now, after yet another plot twist, it turns out that Starkey was indeed fired and that Scott is, in fact, the band's new drummer. Devours is one year younger than Starkey and is American. He was previously part of bands like Oleander and IMA Robot. He is a good friend of the band and works with Daltrey for more than a decade already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TUewZ8AGB4&pp=ygUScm9nZXIgZGFsdHJleSAyMDI1
