Aerosmith was formed in Boston back in 1970 and the band certainly wouldn't have been the same without the legendary guitarist Joe Perry. It became visible that he was a fundamental part of the band when he was out of the group for a few years in the early 80s and after his return alongside Brad Whitford the became became even bigger in the following decades. He had the chance during his career to see many incredible guitarists performing and he once praised one that he described as "incredibly innovative". The guitarist that Joe Perry said is incredibly innovative Although Joe Perry has Blues roots and always was a bigger fan of Blues Rock, he has a broad musical taste in Rock and Roll. The are many different bands he likes and one of them is U2. In an interview with Guitar World back in 2013 he praised the band's song "One". That track was released on the album "Achtung Baby" (1991) and he listed as one of his favorites of all time. He explained his decision praising the guitarist The Edge, calling him incredible innovative. "I still listen to this album constantly. They take ordinary sounds and tweak them a little, so you think maybe you've heard them before, but you haven't. The Edge is incredibly innovative because he just doesn't play normal." He continued: [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftjEcrrf7r0[/embed] "I find that so refreshing. It's not about seeing how many triplets you can play in a quarter of a second, which means nothing. There's a whole other level of expression here that I find so inspiring. And when he plays these fresh sounds they always support the song. And the lyrics say so much in so few words. It takes the song to another level," Joe Perry said. U2 was formed in 1976, six years after Aerosmith and had the chance to release their debut album "Boy" only in 1980. So far the Irish band formed in Dublin have released 15 studio albums. The most recent one being "Songs of Surrender" in 2023. Their line-up is the same for more than four decades, having Bono (Vocals), The Edge (Guitar), Larry Mullen Jr. (Drums) and Adam Clayton (Bass). U2 is one of the best-selling bands of all time, with an estimated amout of 150 to 170 million records sold worldwide. From 2011 to 2019 they had the highest-attend and highest-grossing tour of all time. So far they have won 22 Grammy Awards, mora than any other band in history. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2005 by Bruce Springsteen. The American musician praised them during his speech. He described them as "Faith in the great inspirational and ressurective power of Rock". Bono curiously had inducted Bruce Springsteen into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. A few years later, in 2003, The Edge was the one who inducted the Punk band The Clash.
