The band was formed in Linköping, Sweden in 2006 by Tobias Forge, which has been the mastermind behind the group compositions and the only constant member. Their first album "Opus Eponymus" was released in 2010 and since then they released four more records: "Infestissumam" (2013), "Meliora" (2015), "Prequelle" (2018) and "Impera" (2022). They also had released many successful singles and EPs like "If You Have Ghost" (2013), "Popestar" (2016), "Seven Inches of Satanic Panic" (2019) and "Phantomine" (2023). They finished their Re-Imperator tour in 2023, which had shows in Europe, North America, Australia and South America. There are no scheduled tour dates for 2024 and Tobias Forge said he was already writing for their next album.
