Deep Purple released "Portable Door", the first single of their upcoming album "=1" which will be out next July 19th via earMUSIC. It is the band's first release with the new guitarist Simon McBride, who replaced Steve Morse in 2022. Besides him, the line-up is the same for more than two decades, formed by Ian Gillan (Vocals), Ian Paice (Drums), Roger Glover (Bass) and Don Airey (Keyboards). Like their most recent ones, this album was also produced by their longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, also known for working with Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd and many more. We’ve played what felt good and developed songs as we have always done”. According to their official statement, the enigmatic title "=1" "symbolizes the idea that in a world growing ever more complex, everything eventually simplifies down to a single, unified essence. Everything equals one," the announcement said. But according to them, the full meaning of the title of the new record will be revealed in the coming weeks.
