Written by Journey's keyboardist Jonathan Cain, "Faithfully" was originally released in 1983, being featured on the band's "Frontiers" album. Now the former Journey vocalist Steve Perry released a new version of the song with the legendary Willie Nelson. All the proceeds from the song will go to the non-profit Farm Aid organization, which was founded by Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young four decades ago. The reimagined version was recorded at Ronnie's Place in Nashville, Tennessee and at Steve's studio Love Box. Besides the famous artists, were also part of the track Mike Rojas (Piano), James Mitchell (Guitar), Kent Wells (Acoustic Guitar), Scott Sanders (Steel Guitar), Steve Mackey (Bass), Mickey Raphael (Harmonica) and Nir Z (Drums). Singing this duet with Willie has been something I've always wanted to do. After recording 'Faithfully' with Journey, I always felt it would be a great song for Willie too. What a wonderful experience it was to finally sing with Willie. I'm so proud of what we have accomplished together." Nelson also praised Perry saying: "Working with Steve Perry on 'Faithfully' was a meaningful experience. It was a pleasure to collaborate on this song. I'm proud that we could create something meaningful and use it to give back through Farm Aid." Since he left Journey in the late 90s, Steve Perry was living a private life away from the music business. He returned in 2018, releasing the album "Traces". Since then two more were released: "Traces (Alternate Versions & Sketches - 2020)" and "The Season" (2021). He only reunited with Journey when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. However they didn't perform live that night. His final album with Journey was "Trial By Fire" released in 1996.
