The actor Pedro Pascal was born in Santiago, Chile back in 1975, the same year when Prince started his musical career. Even though Pascal started to act in movies and TV shows in the early 00s, it was during last few years that he became a star. It is especially now with the adaptation of the game “Last Of Us” made by HBO, that he went to another level of superstardom. He is also known for his work in Narcos, The Mandalorian and Game Of Thrones.
In an interview with Hot Ones (Transcribed by Louder Sound) he shared his love for the late Prince and said that he wants “Purple Rain” to be played at his funeral.
Actor Pedro Pascal shares his love for Prince
“It’s my favourite song. It’s the most moving song. I don’t know why it always emerges, even before I actively started implementing it into my spiritual routine, essentially.”
“I didn’t go to church; I was raised by HBO, Spielberg and Prince, and for me, Purple Rain is the most emotionally cathartic, the most musically sophisticated song that I can think of. If it’s casually or spontaneously playing somewhere…I don’t have the emotional space to go there, because it just moves me so deeply.” Pedro Pascal said.
“Purple Rain” is the title-track of Prince’s most famous album released in 1984. That record was his first one to reach numer one on the Billboard 200 charts. It spent 24 consecutive weeks at the top. An estimated amount of more than 25 million copies were sold worldwide.
Prince died at the age of 57 back in 2016 after accidentally overdosing on fentanyl at his Paisley Park home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. During his entire career he was praised by many of his peers, including Paul McCartney and Phil Collins.
