Great Forgotten Songs #24 – AC/DC “Are You Ready”

“Are You Ready” appears on the AC/DC album The Razors Edge (1990) and it was composed by brothers Angus Young and Malcolm Young, as well as vocalist Brian Johnson. Chris Slade was the drummer, who recorded his first and only album with the band. He has a long and varied career, having the opportunity to work with several artists such as Gary Numan, Tom Jones, Uriah Heep, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Paul Rodgrs and David Gilmour.

The brothers Young initially contracted him temporarily, but soon they invited him to join the band, during the recording of the unique album produced with him. He then played The Razors Edge, as well as touring the same album. However, Angus and Malcolm asked Slade to leave the group after four years and brought back the old drummer Phil Rudd, stating that Phil had a “rhythm” that suited more to the rock style of the band.
