The famous Canadian record producer Bob Rock is famous for working with bands like The Cult, Mötley Crüe, David lee Roth and of course, Metallica. His first work with the Thrash Metal band was their 1991 self-titled record, which became their best-selling album. Most part of the fans and critics didn’t like that album so much which featured Bob Rock on bass. But over the years there are many famous artists who praised the record and the producer revealed in an interview with “Talk Is Jericho” (Transcribed by Blabbermouth) that Jimmy Page and Jack White are two of them.

Bob Rock says Jimmy Page and Jack White loved Metallica’s “St. Anger”

“Jimmy Page — not to drop names, but he’s kind of a friend — he was at the Sunset Marquis (in Los Angeles). He was sitting, eating breakfast on the other side of the pool. And somebody walked by and said, ‘I’m here seeing Bob Rock.’ Jimmy said, ‘Oh, Bob’s here?'”

“He came over and talked to me, which blew my mind, coming from Winnipeg — that Jimmy Page even knows my name, you know? And he said, ‘By the way, I love ‘St. Anger’. It’s a great album.'”

He continued recalling when Jack White praised the record when they met: “I happened to be in Toronto (at the premiere of the film and Jack) came up to me from across the room, and he says, ‘By the way, I love ‘St. Anger’. It’s an amazing album.’ And (then) he left,” Bob Rock said.

St. Anger was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipping two million copies in the United States. Six million copies were sold worldwide.

Rock is currently working on the upcoming Mötley Crüe album, the first one to feature John 5 as the band’s guitarist.

I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG
